About Us

Fiona Maynard started Advanced Permissions Group, Inc., in 2015.  She has over 26 years experience in the Rights & Permissions field.  Fiona started her career in the early 1990s as a paralegal at Fox Television Stations, Inc., in Los Angeles.  There she negotiated syndication licensing agreement for Fox television stations throughout the United States and negotiated/licensed Fox owned content to various production companies worldwide.

In 1999, Fiona left Fox and moved to Weider Publications, Inc., (now known as American Media, Inc.)  for a position as a Director of Rights & Permissions.  There she managed the Rights & Permissions Department which performed the following services for Shape, Men's Fitness, Muscle & Fitness, Muscle & Fitness Hers, Flex Magazine, Natural Health and Fit Pregnancy.

Issued/negotiated contracts for world renown authors, photographers, models and illustrators who contributed to the magazines;

Managed the use of US content in the international editions of the magazines;

Syndication of contaent from the fitness titles, National Enquirer, Star Magazine, Globe Magazine, Country Weekly and Soap Opera Digest by third parties worldwide; and

Managed electronic rights databases.

In 2012, in addition to her duties at Weider Publications, Inc., Fiona managed the Rights & Permissions Departement at Playboy Enterprises International, Inc., where she performed the following services:

Research and catalog historical content

Assess/log contractual rights in internal rights databases;

Register the copyright to the magazine and individual photographs/illustrations; and

Perform in depth contract assessment for the use of content internally at Playboy and for outside companies such as production companies, museums, websites and publishing companies worldwide.

On January 2, 2015, Fiona decided to provide her comprehensive rights and permissions services through her own business, Advanced Permissions Group, Inc.  She continues to provide the same rights and permissions services for American Media, Inc., and Playboy Enterprises along with other clients in the publishing and entertainment business.  She is happy to tailor her expertise for any client's needs and looks forward to exploring the possibilities with you.
